June 2009 in California

Visited Northern California during the summer of 2009.  My parents are restoring a historic home "The Powell House" in downtown Nevada City.  

By chance I was able to meet a group of Tibetan monks who were installing one of their sand mandalas in Grass Valley.  The sand mandala is an ephemeral creation considering that it is swept away as it is completed after weeks of  contemplation, design, and laying down of color.

My niece Birdy and I at Cultus Lake outside of Bend.  My sister thinks that Birdy and I have the same nose and mouth, I don't know but she is so beautiful.
